Dermaplaning is the process of removing the outermost layer of skin, or epidermis, to improve the appearance of the skin, especially on areas such as the face and neck. Dermaplaning is generally performed in dermatology offices or medical spas, but it can also be performed in a variety of clinical settings. This straightforward yet effective procedure uses a variety of tools and techniques, all of which can be attained in a dermaplaning training course.

What qualifications do you need to do dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a specialized type of facial exfoliation that can address a myriad of complexion problems, including wrinkles, acne, and dullness, as well as unsightly facial hair. Because dermaplaning involves a type of scalpel, providers of this service require the proper licensing. The licensing requirements vary from state to state, so it is important to check the prerequisites. Dermaplaning should only be performed by a licensed professional because if anything were to go wrong with the process, insurance may cover related expenses.

How long is a dermaplaning course?

Dermaplaning training generally consists of two parts: the first is an educational course that teaches about dermaplaning; the second is a practical course for hands-on experience in how to provide dermaplaning treatment. The educational course will focus on explaining how dermaplaning exfoliation works, the best methods on how to treat each area of the face, and the relevant demonstration for both left-handed and right-handed aestheticians.

The practical course will focus on classroom experience, where you will be able to put your education knowledge to the test. The hands-on portion of your certification will usually involve giving a dermaplaning facial to several volunteers, either your classmates or clients who volunteer to participate in the class. You will also receive your own dermaplaning facial so you can understand how this treatment will feel for the client.

Can you learn dermaplaning online?

Yes, you can learn dermaplaning online! In fact, training for this type of service is easier than ever before. Online dermaplaning courses offer you all the learning potential of a classroom but with the flexibility to learn at your own pace and without the importance of one-on-one training. Online dermaplaning courses typically involve:

– Benefits of Dermaplaning
– Types of Hair
– Common Myths
– Preventing Breakouts After Dermaplaning
– Other key topics that will improve dermaplaning skills

After completion of an online Dermaplaning course, you will feel confident and prepared to bring your elevated technique to your aesthetic practice. In addition, you will receive a certificate of completion that you can proudly display on your wall. Your clients will be loving their enhanced treatments and you will be loving your enhanced skillset.

What do dermatologists say about dermaplaning?

Dermatologists are perhaps the number one professionals that understand the benefits of dermaplaning. This simple, non-invasive procedure sloughs off dead skin cells, which helps skin care products absorb better and enhances the efficacy of other skincare procedures. It also creates micro-injuries in the skin, essentially tricking the skin into thinking it has been wounded; this results in an increase in collagen production, which further helps to decrease fine lines and wrinkles. Furthermore, dermaplaning also helps prevent acne from forming by cleaning out dead skin cells and other debris that is trapped inside the follicle.
