A- A medical aesthetician is a state licensed esthetician working in a medical setting. Plastic surgeons and dermatologists commonly employ medical aestheticians to perform procedures including medical peels, cosmetic laser  and light based treatments  under their supervision.

Q- How do I  become a medical aesthetician?

A. Medical aestheticians must complete a state approved esthetic/cosmetology program and pass the states licensing test.

A- Each state has different requirements in regard to what type of licensed professional can do what type of treatment in a medical spa and medical aesthetics environment. Under Illinois law, a physician may delegate non-ablative laser procedures to any properly trained and qualified individual.
